Missions

In response to God’s great love for us and in obedience to his gracious command, we GO as God’s servants into every vocation, our communities, our city and country, and all the nations with the good news of King Jesus.

Covenant’s missions ministry plays a role in this as it seeks to educate, equip, and engage our congregation to proclaim Jesus Christ by living missionally and extending gospel hospitality in Birmingham and around the world.

COVENANT’S MISSIONS FOCUS

Covenant currently is committed to supporting 92 missionary partners serving with 47 different mission organizations. We partner with 18 ministries based in the greater Birmingham area, four US-based church plants, and 19 staff members with Reformed University Fellowship, the campus ministry of the PCA. Locally, we continue to focus on Fairfield, AL, with substantial resources committed to ministry partners there, including Grace House Ministries, Restoration Academy, Urban Hope Community Church, and Urban Hope Leadership Initiative.

We support missionaries in more than 20 countries around the world, who serve in church planting, discipleship, leadership training, theological education, Christian education for children and youth, shelters for abused women and children, economic development, medical ministries, missionary care, and Bible translation. In addition to the ministries mentioned above, our missions focus continues to be:

Reformed University Fellowship (RUF). Covenant helps fund all RUF ministries in the state of Alabama, as well as RUF staff members who grew up at Covenant. Currently, former Covenant members and staff serve at the University of Mississippi, Emory University, Rice University, and multi-sites in New York City.

Church Planting. We are committed to supporting church plants which take the gospel to new areas, especially through Mission to North America, the PCA’s church-planting arm.

Short-Term Opportunities. There are always multiple opportunities throughout the year at Covenant to get to know our missions partners and participate in short-term missions projects and trips. Through Faith Promise giving, Covenant members have the opportunity to personally support these ministries.

COVENANT’S MISSIONS COMMITTEE

We have a thoughtful and dedicated team of Covenant members and staff who are active participants in Missions Committee. Significant time, deliberation, and prayer have been spent on the continuing work of the gospel. Our chief aim is that God is glorified through our work. We thank you for your prayers.
